The Synthesis Quest is designed for you to combine what you learned in the individual Metacognition and Technology Quests. The word synthesis means creating "a combination of parts, or elements, in order to form a more complete view or system. The whole that results is considered to show the truth more completely than would a mere collection of parts" (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/synthesis). Basically, we're going to take everything we've learned about using different technologies for learning and we're going to try to come up with what it means for us, personally.

According to the objectives for this class (see the Syllabus - opens new window), you should be able to:

Describe how you prefer to learn (your personal learning preferences)
Describe how your body, mind, and network affect your learning
Research and use learning strategies designed to improve learning
Research and use different technologies specifically for learning, even if those technologies were not originally designed to be used for learning
Share the student perspective about using technology for learning
Synthesize how using specific learning strategies and various technologies affects your own learning
Reflect on your own self-development for life-long learning and personal transformation

ACTIVITIES

Level 1 - Synthesis Quizzes (25 points each) - There is a Synthesis Quiz for each area--Mobile Learning, Social Learning, and Multimedia Learning.
- You may attempt as many Quizzes as you like (0, 1, 2 or 3), even if you did not work on each Technology Quest. You are free to go back and review all of the Technology Quest mini-lectures and resources to prepare for these Quizzes.
Level 2 - Synthesis Forum (50 points total)
Level 3 - Synthesis Projects (350 points total)

POINTS

You may do as many Synthesis Quest activities as you like for up to 475 total points. Remember this class uses the "point accrual grading system."
