What is the Internet?
- The Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks that uses the Internet protocol suite (TCP/IP) to communicate between networks and devices.
- You can access information on the Internet through a browser Links to an external site. (Google, Bing, Firefox, etc.).
- One of the main features of the Internet is the ability to link quickly to other related information.
When to use the Internet:
- to find current information
- to link to information provided by the library over the Internet
- to find information about companies
- to find information from all levels of government - federal to local
- to find both expert and popular opinions
Reminder: anyone can post information on the Internet and present themselves as an expert. Use critical thinking to evaluate these sources carefully for credibility before using them for research.
