Periodical Databases or Article Databases

 

What is a Database?

  • Databases (also called periodical databases or article databases) include full-text articles in magazines, journals and newspapers. Databases may also include streaming videos and eBooks.
  • Databases listed on the COA Library webpage Links to an external site., have been subscribed to by the COA Library. Currently registered students (and current faculty and staff) may access these article databases through the COA Library website.  
  • When you are off campus, you must type in your Portal login and password to access the databases.  The Library pays for access to these databases but it is free for our registered students.  
  • Examples of Article Databases the COA Library Subscribes to:
    • Gale Academic OneFile Select  (a general article database)
    • Academic Search Complete  (a general article database)
    • Newspaper Source Plus (newspaper database)
    • Opposing Viewpoints (a controversial topics database)
