What Does a Book Record Include?

Each item in the COA Library collection is described in a record within the catalog. Each record is made up of fields. Each field contains a specific type of information, e.g. Title, Author (Creator), Subjects, Publisher, Publication date (Creation Date), and Summary of Contents. Below is a snapshot of the full record for a book in the COA Library Catalog. When you create a keyword search in the catalog, the catalog looks for your keywords within the full records for all the items in the catalog. Your catalog search results are a list of item records that have your keywords anywhere within their record.
