Practice / Test Prep Considerations
Cheat Sheet - a page of notes (letter sized, front and back) is allowed for each test and the final. Letter size, front and back, typed ok. NO STICKY NOTES or other manipulations allowed, abuses will not be tolerated. No notes for lab tests.
Use of Practice Tests - I believe the practice tests will be your best guide to studying for the tests. Using them as a cheat sheet is a bad idea though....
The best preparation you can do for each test is to do the practice tests. They are actual tests that been given for this class. If you can do well on the practice tests (without looking at the answers) you will do well on the actual tests.
A good way to utilize them.
- Print Practice test 1 out and do it as the unit progresses each new lecture.
- For each question, look at your notes to find the corresponding material needed to answer that question.
- Put that in your cheat sheet. Try to consider all the possible questions implicated by that question.
Example: Which of these is an amino acid?
From this question you should predict the following question:
Here is a molecule, what kind of molecule is it.
Similarly do this for each potential answer A B C D E, not just for the correct answer. - -Then after the unit is almost over, print the second test out and attempt it using your completed cheat sheet. (Do this one honestly without looking at answer key). This will help you figure out what areas you need to review.
Do NOT use the practice test as your cheat sheet, it will not be that much help. Instead, you should use the practice test to build your cheat sheet. You should be asking yourself "how else could this question be asked" "What could be changed in this question to make it different" and "What material is related to this question"?
