BUS 09 – Principles of Management Course Overview

The BUS 09 Principles of Management course provides students with a solid foundation of fundamental business management principles and skills for both the future entrepreneur and organizational manager or leader. You’ll learn the principles, techniques, and concepts needed for effective managerial analysis and decision-making, with ample real-world examples and scenarios for us to explore putting concepts into practice. The course highlights effective management processes and tools associated with the key functions of management: planning, organizing, leading/influencing, and controlling related to both the organization’s internal and external environments. The management of technology and innovation is given special emphasis to prepare students for the ever evolving 21st century role of organizational leadership.

We’ll address functions of human resource management; and delve into the essentials of leadership, team management, and interpersonal communications.  Finally, we will explore the pertinent matters of workplace diversity, business ethics, social responsibility, and sustainability.

You will take away from this course a comprehensive understanding and appreciation of the role of management in any organization, as well as critical theories, tools, and best practices to support your future managerial role or your entrepreneurial pursuits.
