PHYS-4B-GEN PHYSICS W/CALCULUS-A1-40940
Physics 4B is "Comprehensive study of major topics of physics: Thermodynamics, electric forces and fields, magnetic forces and fields, electricity, and AC and DC circuits" (catalog description). This course is suitable for: (1) intended physical science and engineering major students, and (2) interested students who wish to learn how calculus is used to describe the physical theory of electromagnetism. Physics 4B at College of Alameda is a hybrid class with online lecture and face-to-face lab. The required once-a-week lab meeting is used for all things that require face-to-face interaction (most of which is actual lab).

Physics 10 is "Elementary introduction to the field of physics: Mechanics, heat, electricity and magnetism, sound, optics, and modern physics" (catalog description). This course is suitable for: (1) non-science majors needing to satisfy a physical science without lab requirement, (2) future science majors who are not sure if physics and engineering is for them, and (3) anyone who wants a one-semester overview of physics. Physics 10 at College of Alameda is an online class. Other than for exams (there are online and in-person options for the midterms and the final), there are no required face-to-face meetings on campus.
